letters to our sons: november ’13

Little Man/Kaden K/Brother Bear,

You, my little stinker. You’re rotten and you know it! From the times when you drop your food on the floor while shaking your head ‘no’ to the times when I try to change your little bum and you flip your leg over my arm to roll yourself over and speed crawl away. Oh, and how could I forget how you love to drink the bath water, look at me and laugh! I have a feeling you’re going to be a wild man, but time will tell!

But what truly shows me just how rotten you are? Walking. You kind of walked for what seemed like forever. I guess you would laugh at just how excited I am that you’re now walking – you’re just so cute moving about on your feet! You took 20-ish steps this past weekend and about that many on Monday and Tuesday, too, but it seemed like the light bulb went off on Wednesday – instead of crawling to get something, you started getting up and walking on occasion. Boy oh boy, does my heart melt!

It’s been so much fun to walk you to the car and into Ms. Lucy’s each morning, and to see you cruise around all by yourself is just awesome!

Now I’ll spend the next few months hoping you keep that crazy walk up for a while – I love it when you wobble around, legs spread out and arms stretched wide. I may be excited at this sign that you’re growing up, but you’ll always be my little man.

All my love,
MaMum (If you call me what your sister does!)

Please continue the circle and check out the next letter by my dear friend Jacqui! Her son is adorable and I’m certain they’ve had some fabulous adventures over the past month! And what’s really cool? Her son’s name is Kaden, too!!!

I just love these images! And how perfect that you’ve captured those sweet little feet… because they soon will be moving so fast you won’t be able to catch them still unless he’s sleeping! <3

What an exciting time – those early steps – and something you will be so thankful you have captured!

oh man, walking is such a big step. I remember being so ready and excited for him to walk , and then thinking again about it when he took off everywhere!

My little girl just started walking too, so I totally feel your letter! :) Great job- and I love the pics, especially the black and white ones!

Your letter is exactly why I love this series—you would think you’d never forget a monumental week like this, and yet you do forget. I love that you have it captured here from so many different perspectives.

Mindy these are beautiful. I agree with Deirdre. It is easy to forget although you really think that you won’t. I wish I had photos like this of my son from a few years ago. I love the last photo so much.
